About

My name is Clare, a sometimes writer and student. I’m studying scientific and technical communication in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. I have always loved to write; I became a voracious reader at an early age and wrote my first short story in preschool. It was a little convoluted, but it went something like this: a princess and a squirrel escape from her castle and wake up a bear in hibernation in a nearby cave. The princess and squirrel ran way from the bear because it is mad that they woke him up. I’m still waiting on my Pulitzer.

Writing is a meditative, necessary outlet for me. I’m still trying to find my voice in many ways, but creative non-fiction and poetry feel like where I belong. I draw a lot of inspiration from Richard Siken, Mary Oliver, Roxane Gay, Warsan Shire, Clementine von Radics, and Margaret Atwood. I love writing that is intimate, confessional, weird, and haunting.

I love pretentious indie music, hipster coffee, dogs, reading, rock climbing, and backpacking.
